Senior Fellow Areas of Interest: Constitutional Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, Critical Race Theory BiographyDevon Carbado is a founding member and Senior Fellow of the Jamestown Project. Mr. Carbado is a Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law, where he teaches Constitutional Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, Critical Race Theory, and Criminal Adjudication. Elected Professor of the Year by the UCLA School of Law Class of 2000, Professor Carbado was also the 2003 recipient of the Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching, was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from Harvard Law School's Black Law Students Association, and was recently named a "rising star" in Black Issues in Education. At Harvard, he was editor-in-chief of The Harvard Black Letter Law Journal, a member of the Board of Student Advisors, and winner of the Northeast Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition. Professor Carbado has worked for Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles and was a Faculty Fellow and Visiting Associate Professor of Law at the University of Iowa College of Law. He is the Director of the Critical Race Studies Concentration at the Law School and a faculty associate of the Center for African American Studies.
